Boswell Tomb

Continue towards the church. Bear to your right past the west door. Look out for a stone relief of a horse and inscription on the wall.

On the outside of St Mary’s Victorian south porch, three table tomb panels can be seen. The tomb was taken down from the churchyard and incorporated here. It memorialises Inverto Boswell, the “King of the Gypsies”, who died near Studley
of smallpox in 1774 aged 36.
